Bookmakers located within the borders of Britain and Ireland revealed that they expect that the sportsbetting will double over the course of next month. This is due to the World Cup coming right around the corner, Bookmakers expect the younger generation (19-25) to start betting on the sports through land based bookmakers and online bookmakers.
The Trading Director for William Hill, Terry Pattinson took it upon himself to speak the media saying, “During the 2010 World Cup Britain and Ireland both saw more than £100 being wagered by punters. We suspect that this time around that amount will double and potentially even triple. The reason for this is because younger citizens in those countries are starting to see the benefits of sportsbetting online. We suspect that we’ll make more than thirty million Euro’s at William Hill alone.”
Mr. Pattinson continues saying, “Our most popular bet times are when a certain team scores a goal, when a certain team will get a red or yellow card or players will wager on how many corner kicks there will be in one match. You will find that these punters don’t bet on a whim but instead do a mass amount of research in order to ensure themselves of their wager. That’s why sportsbetting is progressively becoming more popular amongst the younger generation.”
Paddy Power has also said that they expect to double up on their turnover rate on wagers which was Eighty Million Euros back in 2010. Patrick Kennedy, the CEO behind Paddy Power has openly said that he is excited to see the results of what the 2014 World Cup brings.”
